Virginia Reinburg is a historian of religion and society in early modern France. She is the author of French Books of Hours: Making an Archive of Prayer, c. 1400–1600 (Cambridge University Press, 2012), and articles on ritual, liturgy, images, practices of prayer, and pilgrimage. She is now writing a book on pilgrimage, sacred landscapes, and the bonds linking religion, place, and nature in early modern France.
